RetroKork - Portal

Now that the christmas days are goine by, it is time for me to tell you a story... The story of a game you may know by name: Portal. But I am in no way talking about the Valve first-person puzzle game, no! I'm talking about the Activision game of the same name.

It's that time of the year!

Merry Christmas - or Happy Holidays!

Whatever you prefer, I just wanted to tell you that I personally like celebrating this time of the year. No, not for a religious reason (I'm what one might call "agnostic") but simply because it is a time of the year when you can calm down, relax and look back at what you have accomplished.

While I myself am very critical with myself, I am happy with what I have achieved: I have gotten off my butt to create videos that I find interesting, I have started blogging and... whew, this sounds more like a new year's eve post all of a sudden.

Anyways: I am picking up a new hobby (inspired by those people of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com who play Dungeons and Dragons on a regular basis over at LordKaT's webstream): Dungeons and Dragons. This christmas I got the Essentials red box (which - according to LordKaT - isn't really the best product to start with due to lots of errors) and I plan on getting a lot of supplemental material for that.

So, have yourself a merry little christmas, maybe while listening to an arizonian angelic voice?

RetroKork - Kaiser

While I loved the german version back when I was 10 or so, I never knew there was an english translation - but now I know... and guess what? It is not really that great. But see for yourself, just after this break:

RetroKork - Uridium

Now we're close to the current day as this is the latest episode of my series. It's a top-down space shooter and the first time I have used imagery other than from the game (with the exceptions of some previous title cards). But the scene in which I spoke the last segment into the camera was overwritten by accident and so I had to come up with a last minute solution. What I did? See for yourself after the break:

RetroKork - Zaxxon

This is a video I had a bit of a difficulty. If you've watched my previous vids you'll notice that they usually contain music from that game. Zaxxon has no musical score and... well, looking back at the first video the noise from the street isn't really that great to listen to when I fall silent. But I've come up with a solution for Sega's Zaxxon.

RetroKork - Ghostbusters

This video is not necessarily the best of mine, it might have been one of the worst.
Yes, I'm extremely critical of my own stuff, but first of all, the game I looked back upon had already been covered by the Angry Video Game Nerd and LordKaT - even if they spoke of the NES version and not of their versions mother: The one for the Commodore 64.

RetroKork - Movie Monster Game

If you are a fan of giant monsters in movies you are totally one of the people this game was made for. If you ever had a Commodore 64 (or a friend/family member who owned one) you might remember the game this video is about: Movie Monster Game (featuring Godzilla as well as some Monsters using an alias).

RetroKork - Spy vs Spy 1, 2 & 3

A triple feature in one short video... I'm just glad the episode turned out as well: Mad Magazine's Spy versus Spy 1, 2 and 3 for the Commodore 64.

RetroKork - Pirates

If you've watched the previous video, you have noticed the pirate at the end. Well, he made a return for the episode that showed up on September 20th 2010 - just one day after the International Talk Like A Pirate Day. And the topic was Sid Meyer's Pirates! from back in the day.

RetroKork - California Games

Epyx was often seen as the olympic sports game creator for the Commodore 64 system.

But first they didn't have the olympic license (that one they got for their "The Games" titles) and then - they created a few less olympic "Games" games, like "California Games".

RetroKork - Lazy Jones

The game where "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation came from was the next topic I spoke of.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you "Lazy Jones", a collection of minigames... after the break.

RetroKork - Green Beret

Still in its infancy, I decided to take on a different kind of game, one that everyone could know... A platforming shooter kind of game by Konami.

RetroKork - Verlies

My very humble beginning with the RetroKork series, the episode which I was kind of driven to create:

Welcome to the Blog

Hi and welcome to the new home of my video series "RetroKork" as well as my other, more personal blog stuff.

In case you don't know what this is all about: The video series "RetroKork" is about classic games from my youth - after all, I'm a 1980 boy. After I have been trying to advertise my videos on two forums - and my twitter account - I have ultimately decided that I am going to create one place where all my videos, all my thoughts and anything me-related is going to stay.

So, let's start with the episodes from the beginning, shall we?
