While the That Guy With the Glasses Anniversary series "To Boldly Flee" was still in post production, I worked on a little something of my own: A trailer for a fictional fanfilm. Its title? To Boldly Flee - The Cavalry. And yes, I know that it's also a pun as they'd also flee the cavalry if any were coming. More behind the break, okay?
First of all, here's the trailer:
Now, a few facts: Chicago consists only of stock footage (free stock footage) and my back yard (doubling as the street we've seen Angry Joe walk on in Suburban Knights).
The space scenes were done in blender by a monkey with a keyboard (or better to say: Me. This seriously was my first attempt at 3D animation in Blender.)
There are 51 Spaceships in the final scene, including th big ship - and they all are based on models from Activision's game "The Movies". Okay, they are straight from "The Movies". I didn't have the patience and remaining time to design and build my own 3D spaceship models, hence why I used them - even though it could probably have taken less time to design, build, texturize and film my own designs.
And finally: Yes, I would have loved getting other people involved with this project, but as I stated on YouTube (in a response to a comment), I would have had to bring a lot of people from all over the world to my hometown (which, to be honest, isn't too great a place for teens and twenty-somethings) and probably even get some of the main TGWTG contributors to film something for me, which could be difficult due to them leading lives of their own.
